Proof-reading....

My head hurts... I think I have a cold from my oldest daughter... but thankfully, I've finished the 5 articles that I had planned to write before Friday. Which gives me a couple more days before submitting them...

Normally, I hate to proof-read anything... it sucks arse, and after I've written something... I'm bored of it, and want to move to something else more interesting! However, in this case... I should make an exception... and so, I've gone back to proof read the writing...

... actually, I had first asked my wife to read through it all.. but she said that none of it made sense to her anyway and that I should send it to our friend who knows much more about these sorts of things! So, I did drop around to my friend's house the other day... but instead of proofreading things... we screwed around and tried out some violins! Much more fun... but perhaps a little less productive!

Anyway, these extra couple of days means that I have time to proof read the articles myself... and man, am I glad I did that... what sort of moron wrote these articles? As you can see, there are scribbles for corrections all over the pages... but at least I don't think that there is anything there that is factually incorrect.

Still... it does lead me to wonder about the places where I do just write and don't bother to go back over the writing... do I normally sound like a complete moron with half finished sentences and the occasional tangential side tracking???...

Lucky that no one reads my STEEM posts!

My head hurts....

lol. Not quite no one. I hate proof-reading, too. I'm never satisfied, so I often wind up spending 3 or 4 times (or more) as long proof-reading as writing.

Ha ha... Thanks!

Yes, I'm finding that proof reading is really going to be pretty useful for some things. It's just not really in my DNA.. Anyway, it does great when you are hacking and slashibg away at a really clumsily written paragraph... Quite cathartic, akin to doing the pruning on a particularly overgrown shrub!

Hope all is good with you, @cmp2020 seems to be doing well with his composing!

It's funny that you say:
" I hate to proof-read anything..." I think a lot of people feel the same way, once you have finished the article, you just want it done with, you've read it over already five times and that's enough.
I have to tell you, proof reading was drilled into my head in my second year of high school, my creative writing teacher was relentless. If you missed one preposition, which should have been obvious, had I proof read, I could have gotten an A.
So I generally walk away, take a breather, then go back and read it again.
But I too, get lazy sometimes and just push the button. My bad!
Have a wonderful day.

Most of my STEEM posts, I don't read again... just post and edit later if there was something terribly wrong in there... but for more important things... I guess, it is a good habit to get into!
