How to Manage Your Time Effectively?

in #writing5 years ago

Whether you're a student or a working adult, your days can get pretty busy and it gets hard to squeeze everything in your daily schedule. You barely have time to spare for yourself to relax and take a breath for a little bit. Some students tend to study and do researches and home works during weekends. While employees tend to work overtime during their day off to finish their tasks and to earn additional salary as well. While it's good to be passionate with your studies or job, you have to remember that you also need to pause and rest for a while to regain some strength. You cannot perform effectively if you don't have enough rest. What's keeping you most from taking a break? Maybe it's because there's just a lot to do and you couldn't stop because you want to finish your tasks the soonest time possible. Or maybe you didn't notice that you're slowly becoming a workaholic. Which isn't really good because it would affect your health and even your social life.

You have to manage your time effectively and make sure that there's a balance between your work and your personal life. What's the use of having a successful career if it's not helping you enjoy your life to the fullest? Here are some tips that I can share that MIGHT help you. Please bear in mind that I'm no master when it comes to time management. But I've learned a thing or two from my experiences.

  • Start doing a new task as soon as possible.
Don't wait for another task to come, because I assure you, a lot more will come. Before you know it, your work is becoming heavier and heavier each time you waste time. Try to do it as quickly as possible without sacrificing its quality. Sounds hard, isn't it? Yup, definitely hard. But definitely possible and achievable.

  • Keep an organizer or a scheduler
Lists all the tasks and activities that you have to do on each day. Try to stick to your schedule as much as impossible. But don't hesitate to make some changes and adjustments once in a while. Life is unpredictable and that's the beauty of it. But trying to organize your schedule wouldn't hurt. It would even help you survive each day smoothly because you've had everything well-thought and well-planned.

  • Don't hesitate to ask for someone's help.
You have to accept that you're just human and there are things that you can't do alone. And that is totally fine. Forget about your pride and ask for a trusted one's help. It would make things easier for you.

  • If it's time for work or studying, then you have to focus on it.
Give your full attention to the task at hand. Put your gadgets away and focus on finishing your work. Avoid distractions and that would help you finish whatever you're doing faster.

  • It would be an advantage if you know what you're doing.
That would help make your task smoother and maybe a bit simpler. Being familiar with it can mean you can finish the task in record time.

  • Don't forget to take some rest.
That is very important. Being able to have enough sleep should be your goal for trying to manage your time. Not having enough rest is, apparently, bad for your health. If you're unhealthy, then you couldn't any task at all. So, take care of your body well.

As I have said, I am not really a master in time management. The tips I've listed were very general but they came from personal experiences. These tips have helped me in managing my time so I could make each day more productive at the same time I had enough time to spare for leisure. I hope these tips would work well for you. Of course, if there are anything you'd like to add, feel free to leave some comments below. I'd love to learn more tips from you, guys!
