The New Apple iPhone XS Max
Today I want to write a little bit about Apple’s latest iPhone the iPhone XS Max. Phones are starting to reach this point where there is really not that much new magical features with fresh models. The hardware side of things are extremely good these days. Now the big changes mainly happens in software. As we have started to see most phones starts to look the same on the outside.
The main specs with this phone are: 6.5” Display with 1242x2688 pixels, 12MP dual camera with 2160p support, 4GB of RAM with Apple’s A12 Bionic chipset, IP68 certified, iOS 12, Hexa-core CPU, Apple internal GPU with 4-core graphics support, No card slot, 64/256/512GB of storage, 7MP selfie camera, Bluetooth 5.0, Face ID and a non removable battery.
The first thing you notice is that there is no magical updates here. We have seen all in the past many times. The phones does look beautiful with an all screen display but still has that strange traffic light design on the back side. You also don’t get a 3.5mm audio jack. Which is a disaster for me since I listen to music with wired earphones. And I don’t wanna use an adapter for a basic feature like that.
I also don’t see the point with a 512GB variant. When we have amazing cloud storage services these days. Everything is being moved to the cloud. Soon 5G data speeds will be here. And then hardware will not even be needed to do amazing stuff. Since you can just stream most stuff over the internet. The price is starting at a ridiculous price of 1250 euro. We are starting to see the Fiat inflation that happens with the Euro and US dollar. Phones just keep getting more expensive.
2013 you could buy a Samsung Galaxy S3 new for 600 euros. Now phones are starting to cost 1000 euro+. Which is silly. This is also why I love cryptocurrency since it makes everything so much better. Since it’s deflationary assets the Tokens most of them. So they become more rare as time goes on. Which is a way better system than the print more and more and more system. Tim Draper even predicts that the whole crypto market cap will be worth 80 trillion in the future. That is 400x the current market cap. The abundance will be so high in the future so we will probably not worry about prices on phones. iPhone’s and Samsung’s will probably be given out for free. Or even better: 3D printed.
The display is super large. But it doesn’t offer any exclusive features. Samsung for example with Galaxy Note 9 and Note 8 offers an S-Pen stylus. Which creates something premium. This gives an incentive for people to buy that edition about the regular Samsung phone. It gives a nice experience. Since it truly offers something exotic. Something that makes the experience so much more fun. As we all know Steve Jobs was not a big fan of the Stylus. So that culture is probably in Apple still today in 2018.
Another thing that I don’t really enjoy with this iPhone XS is the glass back. It has been tried many times before. On for example iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. They all broke eventually. Which makes it a costly device for the clumsy end consumer. A better material to use is ceramic or plastic back. Both can be made to feel very exclusive and exotic. And it would also make the phone slip around less on a surface. Samsung used a Faux leather back on the Galaxy Note 4 which was a great choice. Made the phone feel very business premium.
I feel that Apple will struggle to adapt to a more open future that is coming now with Blockchain technology. Since Apple mainly has thrived on closed ecosystems. But that is not where the future world is going. People want to have more freedom. So they especially want to be able to customise how their device look. This is something that was possible for some short time in 2009 when people was able to Jailbreak their device. People also want to feel more inclusive that they are involved much more in how software and experiences get’s developed.
Jailbreak culture was cool since it engaged the youth a lot. It inspired them to experiment around a lot. Now we are seeing the same thing with open source technology. It doesn’t seem like Apple will change with future iOS 13 in 2019 and start making all open. But I think they eventually will have no other choice than to adapt. Or they will be the next Nokia or BlackBerry.
I agree with so many aspects of this. $1000+ for a phone is outrageous, considering the very little improvements with every release these days.
The blockchain will be the game changer. Somehow I expect apple to forsee this and adapt but if they don't they only have themselves to blame
So many future thinkers have no idea about the power of Blockchain technology. Which is kind of funny. You can tell a lot about a person if they don't know about the Blockchain stuff. For people involved in this space they can see how it will change everything.
$1000 for a phone? Yikes!
I’ve been using my current iPhone for almost 3 years now. I’m a cheap bastard, so I hate turning my phones over and wait as long as I can before buying a new one. If it’s going to cost me anywhere near that much to get a new phone, I’m sure I’m going to try to squeeze at least one more year out of this current iPhone.
On a side note, I read up somewhere that here in Canada, the inflation rate has gone up to around 3%. I have the feeling it’s going to get a lot worse within the next year the way things are going. Our economy is stagnant, and our current federal government seems to think suffocating our energy industry is the way to go to combat global warming.
Bleak future for Canada the next few years as long as this current government stays in power if you ask me. I sure as in the he’ll wouldn’t be betting on Canada right now.
Don't know why this isn't getting more attention yet. A $1000 phone in my country is out of reach to most, absolutely ridiculous they just produce for producing sake. I know blockchain will be a gamechanger in the mobile space, because it is crying for a change. Whether the likes of Apple get swept off by it is up to them
in simple words we dont need such version and so costly iphone. i am using it since my childhood but you must know its just a new business trick to gain more revenue. So, you must have some other things to do with this money... @phoneinf best of luck your well wisher...
