Why LOW Steem Prices SHOULDN'T Discourage You From Producing Content But SHOULD Motivate You Instead

in #writing6 years ago

When STEEM prices tank, a lot of Steemians will get demotivated to write or produce other kinds of content on the Steem blockchain because the payouts they are getting are reducing daily and they feel like they aren't getting enough $ for their efforts. THAT IS THE BIGGEST MISTAKE YOU COULD DO! I want to let you know why that is, why it's actually more beneficial to create content when STEEM prices are low, and why you should be happy to see them fall.

So if you are one of many who start slacking and produce less content as soon as the payouts decrease. I'm here to tell you that you cutting yourself short from a lot of future monetary gains you could have got. Your mindset is not alowing you to see the big picture here.

LOW STEEM prices = higher STEEM payouts

Even though we are getting more STEEM, it's worth less so why does it matter then? Let's say STEEM is worth 1$ now. For a 10$ post you will get around 4 SP + some liquid STEEM. If STEEM was 5$, you would get only 1.7 SP + a tiny amount of liquid STEEM for the same post. In both cases you are getting the same amount of dollars in STEEM/SP but in the first case you are going to get more of them in the end. Why? Well, we all know how much STEEM is undervalued at the moment and how much could it be worth in a couple of years.

That 1 Steem you earned today might be worth 100$ in a couple of years

If you are a long term thinker and have a vision for what this platform could accomplish and how valuable it's currency will be in a year or two, you will not have a problem understanding and accepting this thought. Even though you are making a couple dollars per post today, if you will still be on this blockchain in a few years and HODL the STEEM you earn, that 3$ you earned today might turn into 300$.

A very nice return on your investment of time/intelligence needed to create that piece of content. Isn't it?

Do you see where I'm going with this?

It really doesn't matter how much the STEEM you earn today is worth because it only represents its current value. If you are serious about this platform you probably won't sell any of it any time soon. No matter how "little" you earn now, produce as much quality content as you can, because that few dollars will multiply if you have the HODL ability mastered :)

TO CONCLUDE

  • low STEEM prices result in more STEEM/SP payouts
  • STEEM will be worth much more in the future
  • appreciate low STEEM prices as a chance to earn more STEEM
  • create awesome content and HODL your earnings
  • be patient and you will be rewarded
  • never get demotivated

Gotta just keep on trucking and we must control the thing things we can control.

Exactly! Just keep on producing quality content and everything will be fine + there is a big reward at the end of the road :)

Thank you so much for this brilliantly inspiring post. I am bookmarking it for any little slump day I may get 😀 Love this place and loving becoming a part of the community... thanks to people like you. E x

@eveningart, I'm honored to get such a positive reply and glad the message got through. Never give up! Only push through the hard times and create even better content. It's good to give yourself a break every now and then but in general, I only had a couple of days without posting ever since I got here a bit more then a year ago and look where I am now. Still, this is just the beginning and I got a lot more in store for the future, but you can get my point :)

Good luck with your Steemit journey, wish you much success on the way to the top!

That is such a good point AND explained in a way that actually makes sense to me (a lot of times posts about steem/sbd just leave me confused!

I am in this for the long haul. I love the community and the support I've found here that is unmatched in other blogging platforms. This post is definitely deserving of some attention, I'm glad I saw it in the alliance post!

Glad you stumbled upon the post and mentioned where you found it because I wouldn't have noticed that it was in the alliance post. We need damn notifications here!

I tried to be as direct as possible without going into any reasons why we are getting into the unimportant parts.

Me too, I actually consider my SP my retirement fund and I'm 23 lol

Never blogged anywhere before, so I can't say anything about other sites. The community is good but it could be much better. Sometimes I feel there is a lack of engagement because everyone is concentrated on creating content so they don't have time to consume/interact with other peoples content. Also the false positive feedback for upvotes is annoying af.

But all in all the Steem blockchain is unique and has a lot of potential. I have big exoectations from it in the future obviously and think that they will be met when the time is right. We just need to wait, stack and hodl :)

You need Ginabot on discord! You can set up notifications for all kinds of things. I mostly use it to tell me when I've been mentioned in a post or if someone resteems my posts.

I've blogged and journaled online for well over 15 years. Pretty much as soon as we got internet :) Steemit definitely has some kinks to work out and I really hope they do, but it's still a pretty great platform. I hope it stays the distance, because I'd love to be able to stay here long term and keep growing.

Reminds me of those people who sold their Facebook stock when it dropped to $17 after the IPO. I'd say it's recovered since then, wouldn't you? Remember when Apple (AAPL) was $20? Stay the course folks. If anything, we should be posting MORE!

Great comparison! It's exactly the same as in the cases you mentioned and tbh, I'm happy af when Steem is low because I get a new chance to buy in and earn extra Steem.

Great post bro!

People really need to know this to keep them motivated. I knew something about this but I never consider that to be something that will drive my motivation. Only lack of time is a factor on will I WRITE something or not... I love steem snd so far, I believe in it so I also want to hodl. Let's hope the future is bright!

Anyway, really interesting post!

Thanks man.

Yeah, I noticed how I got a little bit demotivated when the prices fell but then I realized that I'm a tard and could actually make 5x more now when Steem is low than I could when it's a couple of dollars.

The future is nothing but bright for us. Just stack that Steem and hodl. In a couple of years we will be laughing to the tards still using FB from Bahamas or some other simmilar place :)

I was hoping I was on the right track. Try not to let account balance influence much of my activity.

Have not altered my Steem habits just because of payout value. With the exception of trying to improve post quality, where I struggle.

I enjoy it regardless of earnings.

Hope lots of members take advantage of your suggestions!

That's exactly the kind of mentality everyone here should adapt!

Hi,

Thanks for explaining this. I am guilty of thinking that I should slow down on my content producing since the price dipped.

Now, I will keep a longer term payout in mind.

Get back to writing then :)

Imagine facebook going down and losing many users to steemit network ... that would be great and really fair. Facebook treats users rights like sh*t.

I'm still waiting for the day the mindless sheep that are still using FB to come on Steemit. Let's hope it comes sooner than later.

It absolutely discouraging but we keep on steeming
#Thanks for the motivational write-up

Lower steem price gets beaten by lower upvote value, making it irrelevant. Unless you somehow gained new upvoters.

People who depends on their payouts here will likely feel the most pain and that's why you see less interaction.

Nonetheless, this post is inpiring to be consistent with posting good content, especially for people that aims for financial freedom.

Thanks for stopping by and letting me know that you actually got something useful out of my article. Glad you got motivated to push through and create more!

Financial freedom is my top priority in life and I got a good feeling that Steemit will help me get there in a year or two :)
