The New Smaller Computer of the world!

The miracles of the miniaturization will never miss to surprise us! The last exploit in date have been done by a team of the Michigan University. This one did the exploit to design a computer smashing the previous record detained by the IBM firm. The new one is barely 0,3 mm aside, three times less than this previous record!

During the 60s and 70, minicomputers overrode mainframes so that more structures can have their own units, "at home". Afterward, it’s personal computers that were imperative and which have popularized the computing. Last March, IBM announced the conception and the "soon" finalization of an absolutely tiny computer (in photo below) smaller than a simple grain of salt. Of course, it’s not necessary to compete with supercomputers power , but rather to skip at every level of our everyday life. Disturbing.

But the IBM computer is already gone out of fashion by the realization of the Michigan University. Managed by David Blaauw, this one has actually just presented a 0,3 mm computer aside, it’s three times less than the IBM machine. Such a measure does not necessarily allow to realize the exploit and the simplest thing to do is still to look at the photo published by the University: yes, next to the tiny electronics, it’s a grain of rice! Baptized "Michigan Micro Mote", the device is a complete computer with its processor, its random-access memory, its wireless transmitter-receiver and some photovoltaic cells.

The university specifies that " Michigan Micro Mote " was imagined to help the researchers in medicine: its initial objective was the measure of temperature in cancer cells. This temperature would be higher than within healthy cells and the computer would have a role of control to determine the area of the disease and the success/the failure of a treatment. David Blaauw's team specifies however that barely they have published their works, they received information requests of numerous researchers what could lead to a lot of uses for this "Michigan Micro Mote" … Up to the next one exploit in the miniaturization field?
