WWE Missed Women’s Division Opportunity with Greatest Royal Rumble Event

in #wwe6 years ago

Recently WWE held the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia, a location that is not exactly women’s rights friendly. This meant that no WWE female superstars could compete at this pay per view (PPV). I am not writing this to debate the politics of WWE holding a PPV in such a country, that is for others that are more politically aware than myself to discuss.

I find it amazing that with the “women’s movement” in the WWE that they missed this opportunity.

It almost writes itself, had any of the members of creative been awake that is.

First, right now the Women’s Division in WWE has never been stronger. Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks have main evented Monday Night Raw and fought in the first Women’s Steel Cage match. We have strong Women’s Division across all three shows that WWE currently airs weekly (Monday Night Raw, Smackdown Live, and NXT).

Why were the women left completely out of the fun recently?

I thought for sure, that WWE would have done something for the women the same weekend that we got the Greatest Royal Rumble event.

Nope.

How could they have done something for the women when the women were not allowed to compete in Saudi Arabia?

Simple, perform another first for the Women’s Division.

Give them their own pay per view event on that Sunday.

Why is this not something that happened that weekend? It almost writes itself.

Could you imagine the fun of a Women’s Division PPV? It would have not only been another first for the women, but it would have made sense considering all the men were performing in Saudi Arabia.

With new members to the main roster such as Billy Kay and Peyton Royce, not to forget Ember Moon, there could have been some great matches at this PPV.

Sadly, we missed out on this opportunity because WWE is not as forward thinking as the company would like you to think.

Such a shame.

Wow really opened my eyes to issue I hadn’t thought existed. Sadly it seems a lot of companies today try to trick us into thinking they’re so progressive. Great job exposing them!
