How to start a succesful Youtube Channel!

I wanted to start a Youtube channel for a few months so I started to read guides and tutorials around the internet and try to learn which are the best practices.

I'll do my best to explain all the things I understood so far and how somethings work, if you know something or want to add it here as a plus, let me know.

Where to start?

Well most of the people get so exited when starting that they jump a few steps, the hype then later dissapears if they have no results.

First of all you need to pick a niche, what is your channel about, how many times a week you are posting (Gaming - 3,4 videos / Vlog - 1 video almost everyday / Education 2-3 videos per month etc.). And now you could ask, but hey why do I need to think about all these before even starting? Well in order to be succesful or increase your chances of succes on youtube you need to be consistent with posting, having a schedule is a good point to start.

Now that you have a small schedule and a niche on your videos is time to get on our next step.

Picking a name.

Based on your niche you should pick a good name, for example if your about to start a gaming channel it should be something simple, small and easy to remember for kids, if it's an education channel the name should have something related to that, this could help even in video searching when people are looking for videos similar to yours.

And that's not all, after you picked your name, check it's availability, once you are ok with it and it works make sure that the name is also available on other social platforms, even if you are not going to use all of them when you start, later when you are getting used with those things you can promote yourself on multiple platforms at the same time. The name needs to be the same as the one on youtube so it won't confuse your viewers, it can be something similar if your original name is taken but at least 90% similar to the original one.

Which platfoms could you use:

  • Instagram
  • Facebook
  • Twitter
  • Steemit
  • Steam (gaming)
  • Twitch
  • VK

Design, and how eye appealing it should be.

Now that you have the name of the channel and the niche we should move to the design of it, you need a cover for your channel and one avatar.

Now don't worry, it isn't that hard, if you don't have any design skills (PS/Ai/Paint etc.)

Banner/Cover Maker:

If it works and it fits the size, you could use the same avatar/cover on the other platforms you created accounts before.

Recording.

We got to the fun part, how are you going to record your videos, well if it vlogging it's pretty easy you could use almost any camera / smartphone as long as it records 720p 30fps, the best solution would be a 1080p 30fps or 60fps.
(FPS stands for frames pers second, 720p it HD and 1080p is Full HD).

If you are going to record on PC, there are 2(+1) solutions that I recommend.

First one is available for everyone, it's called OBS, free to use, install it and setup it, there are plenty of easy tutorials on youtube on how to use it.

Second one is the Shadowplay from nVidia, it only works for people that have videocards from nVidia (GTX and RTX series only), it records using GPU and it saves plenty of resources.

Third option is the Video record available in Windows 10, it's pretty decent and simple to use.

Feel free to add things, part 2 is coming soon.
