The mental gymnastics people use to justify taxation... (I mean theft)

in #zappl6 years ago (edited)

If I take away your possessions, it's theft.
If my friend and I take them, it's theft.
If millions of people take them, it is theft.
If millions of people outsource this action to an institution called government, it's still theft. #zappl

Absolutely correct. This is why I have mixed feelings about BTC crossing the $10K mark. Now Institutions want in, and now the IRS and big government will be watching. The IRS won a case against coinbase where now Coinbase has to give up the larger purchaser's info from 2013-2015. This is their "foot in the door." Once the is precedent is set, it is only a matter of time before it gets increased to every purchaser (it's a game of inches). This is very conflicting to the original ideologies and principles that led to the creation of BTC.

Don't worry, crypto will remain and win. There are enough privacy oriented coins out there.

It's true. While governments can't actually stop the technology. They can label anyone who uses it a criminal. That will pop the exuberance.
