A walk on the beach results in some decent finds

in #beach2 months ago

I go on walks of the Da Nang beach several times a week. At certain times of day this can be kind of annoying because there are so many people around but I have found that if you simply walk away from town you pretty much have the beach to yourself with the occasional person being encountered here and there. I don't get in the water so I'm not all that concerned about that. These walks are therapy for me because I collect my thoughts, think things through that are troubling me, and also get a bit of exercise.

This day's walk was perfect because it was overcast and therefore I wasn't going to get overheated as is very possible on most days.

If you travel south from the main tourist beaches there are just a few resorts that have all the beachfront property and therefore there are far fewer people there. Going north is going to result in a massive mob of people and I guess some people like that. I don't.

During this walk I saw the usual trash all over the place, which is always concerning but the wind was blowing and I had on a podcast and was learning something from Joe Rogan and just enjoying not sweating my ass off thanks to the sun being behind clouds. I walked about 5km in total and by the end my legs were kind of hurting because walking on sand is more difficult than on a road or something level like that. I had contemplated stashing my shoes somewhere the next time I do this but I don't really know what theft is like in this city yet, so perhaps I will just continue carrying them.

On the beach access road I discovered a few of those circle boats that are used by the lifeguards here and got a closer look at what they look like inside. I looked pretty close but I still fail to understand how this sort of sea vessel could possibly be better than a regular raft or a traditional boat. The only thing I could come up with is that there is no "front of the boat" and therefore you can paddle in any direction. I guess I just find it a bit stupid because there is no rudder and it seems to me that without that, paddling would be very inefficient. Whatever! It's not for me to say.

I did also encounter a bit of street art that was pretty good and it was on the side of a business that I guess is a dance club of sorts.

At first I thought I was looking at some real talent but then got up close and realized that this is mostly brushwork, not spray. No offense to anyone that paints with brushes out there, but I almost feel like that is cheating when it comes to street art. I guess it is better than nothing and I think that one of the only reasons that someone hasn't come by and defaced this with some silly gang tag is because there is security at this facility 24-hours a day. It's a shame that talentless street taggers actively target pieces that are actually good, but that does seem to be the case.

I'll likely go down this same path later on today but the sun is out today so it is going to be a very different experience and I fully intend to come back covered in sweat!

It's a really great feeling, I hope you have a wonderful day
