The next folk tale is the story of Ande-Ande Lumut. Once upon a time there lived a poor widow and her very handsome son named Ande-Ande Lumut.

Many women tried to propose to Ande-Ande Lumut, but were always rejected. Near the village where Ande-Ande Lumut lived, but separated by a fairly large river, there also lived a rich widow named Nyi Menah.

Nyi Menah had six children, Klenting Merah, Klenting Green, Klenting Blue, Klenting Purple, Klenting Gray and Klenting Black. Apart from them, in this house there also lived a woman named Klenting Kuning.

Every day Klenting is treated unpleasantly and is also treated like a servant.

One day Nyi Menah wanted to introduce her children to Ande-Ande Lumut so that one of them would marry Ande-Ande Lumut. However, to reach Ande-Ande Lumut's house, they all have to cross a river guarded by a giant crab named Yuyu Kangkang.

In order to get past Yuyu Kangkang, Yuyu Kangkang gave them conditions. The condition is that Yuyu Kangkang must kiss all of Nyi Menah's children.

Because they really wanted to meet Ande-Ande Lumut, they all agreed. Upon arrival at Ande-Ande Lumut's house, Ande-Ande Lumut also rejected all proposals from Nyi Menah's children because they had been kissed by Yuyu Kangkang.

They all then went home feeling disappointed. Meanwhile, Klenting Kuning also went to Ande-Ande Lumut's house after finishing his homework.

To prevent Yuyu Kangkang from kissing Klenting Kuning, Klenting Kuning stroked her cheek with chicken droppings. Because of this, Klenting Kuning was able to get to Ande-Ande Lumut's house without being kissed by Yuyu Kangkang.

Ande-Ande Lumut then chose Klenting Kuning as his wife. Apart from that, Ande-Ande Lumut also turned into a prince named Prince Inu Kertapati.

This folk tale is quite famous, namely the tale of shallots and garlic. Long ago, in a village, there lived a widow with two children, namely Bawang Merah and Bawang Putih.

Shallots and Garlic have opposite properties. Bawang Merah has the nature of being lazy, arrogant and jealous. Meanwhile, Bawang Putih has the nature of being diligent, kind, honest and humble.

Apart from that, Bawang Putih is the stepson of her mother and the half-brother of Bawang Merah.

Bawang Putih often received unpleasant treatment from her mother and Bawang Merah, apart from that, Bawang Putih often did the housework.

One time, when Bawang Putih was washing clothes in the river, unfortunately, one of her stepmother's clothes was swept away by the current. For fear of being scolded, Bawang Putih looked for the clothes.

After trying to search, Bawang Putih found a cave where an old woman lived. Bawang Putih asked the old woman if she saw the clothes that Bawang Putih was looking for.

The old woman said that the clothes were with her, and would return them to Bawang Putih but on one condition.

The condition of the old woman was to help with her work. Bawang Putih agrees to these requirements.

After helping the old woman, the clothes were returned to Bawang Putih. As a form of thanks, the woman gave Bawang Putih two pumpkins, a large and a small pumpkin. Bawang Putih was asked to choose one of the two pumpkins.

Bawang Putih finally chose a small pumpkin. When he arrived home, Bawang Putih was scolded by his mother and Bawang Merah. Because she was angry, her stepmother then slammed the pumpkin that Bawang Putih had brought.

How surprised they were to find that the contents of the pumpkin were jewelry. Bawang Putih also told how she got the pumpkin.

After hearing the story, they even shouted at Bawang Putih for not taking the big pumpkin, because in their minds, they could get more jewelry.

Because of his greed, Bawang Merah also went to the cave where the old grandmother lived. However, unlike Bawang Putih, Bawang Merah did not help the old grandmother first but immediately asked for the old grandmother's large pumpkin.

The old grandmother finally gave a large pumpkin to Bawang Merah. When they arrived home, Bawang Merah and her mother also broke the large pumpkin that Bawang Merah had brought.

However, unlike Bawang Putih, the pumpkin that Bawang Merah brought turned out to contain a scary poisonous snake.

The two of them, Bawang Merah and her mother then realized that what they had been doing to Bawang Putih was a bad action and apologized to Bawang Putih.

My older brother always told me these two fairy tales when I was little, I hope they entertained me

I find folklore from foreign cultures exciting. We also have a series of folk tales that have long been available in book form: have your traditional stories also been written down?

Some have been written, some have not, in fact recently some have started to be made into books, many stories are almost lost in the midst of society, usually heard by people who have Older, while almost all of those people died, the only people left were people who didn't like the story. If I have the chance, I will tell you tomorrow about the origins of elephants. This story is rare I heard that when I was in elementary school. Thank You
