When and why is International Nurses Day celebrated?

International Nurses Day (IND) is always celebrated on the 12th of May every year. This celebration is done to recognize the work done by our nurses in the world. Nurses as we all know are those who work in the hospital to care for the sick ones.

This day was set aside to recognize and celebrate them for all they have done for humanity as they continue to care for the sick and helpless. If you have ever been sick you will understand the work of the nurses.

So they need to be celebrated because they have contributed much to humans by taking care of the sick and also encouraging them to always stay strong and assuring them that everything will be fine in no time.

What do you think about the nurse in your heart?

I think that nurses all over the world need to be celebrated at all times. Having seen how the nurses cared and took care of the sick, I think they deserve to be celebrated always.

A nurse is always there for the sick administering drugs or drips etc., they also are there to give out words of encouragement to the sick who think it's the end of the road for them.

So I think nurses are Angels from God to help give us hope when we are lost in hope and also to always assist us when we need it the more. So I wish nurses were celebrated every day.

If you get a chance to serve the community as a nurse in a situation like Covid-19, would you do it?

During the period of COVID-19, every health worker was so scared because they were the ones who came in direct contact with those who were sick. That period is a period where we see those who are dedicated and wish to serve humanity.

So if I had the opportunity as a nurse during that period, I would have served my community as well. I will always attend to the sick and then give them words of encouragement so that they will know that they are not alone in the situation they have found themselves.

I believe if I was able to serve and show the sick love and care most of them wouldn't have died during the COVID-19 period.

Have you ever taken health care from a nurse in a hospital? If so, how was your experience?

Yes, I have taken health care from a nurse before, and that was just recently early this year because I feel seriously ill. I was hospitalized for about a week plus and a nurse was there to ensure I was very much okay.

She always comes around to ensure that I take my drugs and if I need anything or I feel anyhow she will want to know so that she will know what to do to make me feel better. So that was the case with the nurse I met early this year in the hospital.
