My Neighborhood Watch #47 - Reporting Events Around Us

Hello friends welcome to my blog as I keep you entertained with the recent happenings in my neighbourhood.

This is one of the latest within the neighbourhood. This road construction is an ongoing one in my neighbourhood that has taken longer time and I can bet you, it is long overdue in all fonts. However, it has made my street so calm with little or no noise from passing vehicles as usual because the road is been blocked for the moment until they are done with some section.

Notwithstanding, this has helped the residents of my neighbourhood have a temporary peaceful and calm environment, and I wish it would remain this way. Hahaha! We all know it won't remain like this forever as we will definitely want it completed and open for commercial use.

Although this was how my neighbourhood used to be some years back when we moved in. A place with little commercial activities but purely residential. But since people now preferred it as their solace, they began to build houses around lately and the whole place is now crowded and the little public resouces can no longer go round sufficiently.

The serenity of the environment was our main reason for moving in here, but this has been defeated. Before now, one can go out for his/her daily activities sometimes though stressful but seamingly happy to come back to a calm and cool neighbourhood.

Challenges we face due to the road construction

With the good development of constructing good and accessible roads in my environment, it has not been easy for the residents of my neighbourhood. We sometimes park our cars far away from our homes due to the blockages within the neighbourhood.

In some cases where private cars aren't used due to the difficulty from this ongoing construction, commercial vehicles on the other hand are seen picking up passengers from a distance far from residential homes. Hence, we have to trek a far distance, and the transport fair is now expensive due to this complicated scenario of not plying the normal route.

Going to the market for bulky buying sometimes for my household gives me lots of worry because of the difficult situation of carrying it from that far distance to my house. We just have to plan purchases of such nature once we have tips of having full access to the roads expecially during weekends.

School children are not exempted from this stressful trekking of long distances coupled with the harsh sunny weather. This whole situation is all encompassing for us. I feel pity for my children whenever they come back from school, but I make sure they get a cool bath when they get home and assure them that it will end soon.

It has affected business greatly in the neighbourhood, and some business owners have to close up temporarily for the main time until the road is accessible for customers to come and patronize their goods and services. I could remeber a bubbling gas station that closed up just because of this whole difficulty situation.

Initially, the road construction was slow due to unknown causes. They have increased their space recently hopefully it will be completed soon so that movement can be restored again.
