How Many Shades of............. NW Cascade Wanderings

……..green exactly? I have always figured it might be the color with the most shades of itself. Then again, maybe not. Google tells me up to 300 and possibly many more. It’s can really be seen just how diversified the color is especially here in the NW and especially in the spring! It’s pretty amazing.

If you stay back in the valley and look to the mountains, the green ‘fuzz’ of newly emerging leaves is pretty phenomenal. Then, deep within the forest under the canopy of the trees, there’s underbrush, moss and a multitude of plants and flowers that add to the array of color.

Even just the green variance in the color of the moss is interesting.

Despite the beauty that surrounds us here, right now is a pretty miserable time to be out in the forest! Those darn midges have arrived with a vengeance and no one is safe! Last week when they were just beginning but were tolerable, one bit my elbow giving me my first go round of cellulitis. It has only been mosquitoes in the past that affected me. However now the midges have joined the party. I guess I’ll be resorting to long sleeves and a safari hat? 🙄

Love the forest-hate the midges and mosquitoes!

Take a look at this lovely 7 year old specimen!

I hope he lives much longer! 🐌

That’s gonna be it for today. Take care and enjoy the weekend! 🙏🙏🇮🇱🇺🇦
