Twice in Silvertop’s lifetime I have had the privilege to hike and explore forests trails long before they became parks!☺️
I was barely eight years old, when a friend’s Grandfather took both of us kids to a forest where the local College students were working an archaeological dig…….
His Grandfather and the two of us, met up with a very official looking man.
Tree branches slapped the side of his truck, we rolled up all the window as he drove onward down an extremely overgrown gravel road!😳
Where are we I asked?🙄
We are on the Shawnee Indian Nation land!😊
Fast forward many years, and Silvertop stepped out of his car with Liz and our three kids, we were out for a day hike.🥰
Paved parking lots, picnic tables, and miles of very well maintained hiking trails, throughout this newly opened 1,421 acre State Park!

Now days Liz and Silvertop’s hikes start in this meadow that you see in the third photo.
Hundreds of acres of private land, owned by Keith and Lynne, connect with thousands of acres of public land leading to Canada…..

Keith had erected this new stewardship Forest sign!
Liz and Silvertop were hoping this Forest would be protected, and now it’s official!🤗
On the hike back home, I heard voices…….
I was met with Keith and Lynne, they were out for today’s hike with some friends!
I let them know how excited we were that this forest will now be here for generations to hike and enjoy!
Keith jokingly said that Canada wants to cut trails to connect with these trails Lol!🤣
“ That would be awesome Keith, maybe I better get my passport, so I can keep hiking Lol! “ 😇
