We usually see receipts when we have finished making payment for an item or anything we bought. There is a small piece of paper containing the name of the item, price and tax that consumers must pay.

One time I bought KFC at my son's request. He really likes fried chicken, in one week he asked to buy it 3 times. I tried to find a substitute with similar fried chicken made locally but to no avail.

Until one day, I noticed the details of the receipt I received. It says 10% tax for take away. Apart from that, there is also a 10% tax for restaurants. I asked the cashier why I was charged twice. With a smile, the cashier answered, that's the rule, sir.

I don't mind paying tax on goods that have been purchased, but I've never experienced tax on take away food. I didn't ask any more questions because she was just following company rules.

After arriving home, I continued my search for unsatisfactory answers to the tax. I called my younger sister who is an accounting lecturer. I told her about the tax, she said there were no regulations regarding take away tax. This is just a trick by companies as tax collectors to increase income illegally.

I then looked for comparative data to make a more objective assessment. Coincidentally, there is a shop that specializes in selling ice cream which is a local franchise business. I bought Momoyo ice cream with takeaway. When I made the payment and looked at the purchase receipt, it turned out that there was no tax for take away. There is only one price which seems to include tax.

The basic question for me is why pay tax on take away food? Because I already paid the restaurant tax. It turns out that there are many loopholes in taxes that can be corrupted. Moreover, currently there are rumors that the government is considering increasing value added tax by 12%.

If taxes are used as much as possible for the prosperity of the people, of course it will be very useful for the people. But that's just an illusion, the government is like a magician who wants to turn receipts into question marks?

The question is if these are taxes set by the government or the company. It sounds as if it is KFC policy and they made you pay for something else.

It seems that this is KFC's policy without the knowledge of the local government. The weakness of the tax system which is not yet "on line" gives rise to corruption. I once bought pizza at "pizza huts" but it was not subject to take away tax. So I really don't understand KFC's policy.

The more they can charge the customer the better for them.

No KFC here but a McDonalds in the city 30 kms or so. We have Dominos. Oil with a tiny pizza, not tasty. Not sure about taxes if they deliver it at home. I order online. My main food is bread. I never cook.

Thank you for the information
