Hi Friends! I hope you're great 😃 it's my delight to take part in the Power up contest initiated by @jyoti-thelight, I must confess it's been a while I write power up post, but today I will try to make it informative so that the new ones in our midst can learn and benefit from it. First of all, I've formed a good habit of powering up at least 50% of my reward weekly, and as such this week I've powered up 383.348 Steem to strengthen my account.
So to power up I first of all open my wallet using my posting key.
Then I clicked on the drop down arrow beside Steem, when options Pop up I choose power up.
I added the number of Steems I intend to power up and click on power up.
Lastly, I validated the transaction with my active key and I was done ✅

Power up is the process of converting our Steem token into Steem Power (SP) and SP is an influence token that's used in measuring the amount of influta user has on the platform.
When you power up, you're essentially investing in Steemit, Steem power give a user voting right, and the higher our SP the greater our influence on the platform's reward system. Or you can say that powering up Steem token increases the influence of a user on Steemit and rewards their contribution accordingly on the platform.
The process of power up is not reversible, once you convert your tokens you can't transfer it out again except through the process known as power down., this process not encouraging on the platform.
What Are The Importance Of Performing Power-up |

1) Power up is so essential, it shows our long-term commitment to the platform, which is very valuable for both the user who power up and the community.
2) It increases our influence and our Voting Power
It also increases the user's influence and voting power, allowing us to have a more significant impact on the rewards distribution for content creators. For example I can vote 30 cents at 100% now, all because I love power up and I've been consistent with it.
3) Power up will help you to earn higher percentage of Curation reward, which is a surplus source of income. For example I used to earn extra 70 SP weekly as my Curation reward.
4) Power up shows that we are willing to invest in the platform, and this ultimately contributes to the platform's growth and sustainability.
5) Power Up Provide us with a sense of achievement and pride, knowing that we've contributed positively in the community and trying to make a difference. The truth is that power up is so important! it's an important step for every users to establish themselves and shows that they are active and committed members of a community.

What kind of contest is this and why is it a contest? Isn't it what many do? Perhaps not weekly if there's hardly any earning to power up with.
I understand the 'commitment' part but what I do not understand is why hard working Steemians are treated like trash if the moment arrives they have to power down.
It's quite unfortunate that some hardworking Steemians feel like they are being treated poorly when they power down. Everyone deserves respect and dignity, and it's important to remember that Steem has positively impacted many people's lives. While we can't control how others view things, we can work together to create a positive and supportive community for all Steemians.
But what is that contest part? Most of all.automatically power up 50%
