WOX TRAVEL CONTEST | WEEK 7

Few days ago, before I fell sick, I made a post of me going to the state general hospital but I didn’t mention that going from my house to the state capital for treatment is quite a long journey to make. Due to urbanization, the place I stay has developed but in real sense, it’s a rural settlement.

In the next few moments, I’ll be giving you a glimpse of my little journey to the hospital but before going ahead, let me invite @lovelystar and @eurogee to join in this contest.

There is this popular opinion that the court is the last hope for the common man but in a Nigerians reality, this is where the common man is been oppressed the most. In Nigeria, if you want to have the full license to steal, just be a politician and the court will be there to make it legit. The law makers are just tools in the hands of the politicians, No freedom of judiciary. Imagine a chief justice of the federation and minister of justice being appointed by the president… Tell me, how such person will carry out his duties effectively??

Well, this federal high court, Rivers state chapter happens to be close to the government house, the place the governor discharges his duties. The place is really nice. At least, the governor did a good work beautifying the place.

There is a popular proverb that says “when two elephants fight, the trees and grass around there, suffers for it”. This is the same issue with this abandoned monorail project. This project was built to cushion the effects of the hardship on poor citizens and was a one way trip to the end of Port harcourt city. But because of the fights between the past and the present governor, it was abandoned. The reason you see all this bush and grass all over the premises. Billions was put in this project that is now abandoned. This is located at station road in Port Harcourt.

The Museum here is located close to the Rivers state general hospital. The museum use to be the talk of the town growing up as kids but due to poor maintenance culture, the building is now dilapidated. People have now turned it to their personal residence of abode. The building that I saw there, put chills down my spine because if a big bad wolf decides to huff and puff, that old brick building my collapse on people living inside it.

This hospital has metamorphosed into this magnificent facility will see now. It was formally called braithwaite memorial hospital. Is as old as forever. Before the name was changed to the rivers state university teaching hospital. It is really big edifice. Thank God the government had taken time to do a complete overhauling in the structure and buy new equipment. It is really a great place now. That’s where I went for my treatment.
