Save Korean Young people

in #korea19 days ago

The situation in South Korea is extremely concerning, with the country facing some of the highest suicide rates for depression among OECD countries. The alarmingly low birth rate of 0.57% in Seoul in 2022 is even lower than during the Black Death in Europe. The number of newborns has plummeted from 700,000 in the 1990s to just 200,000 today, threatening the future workforce.

This crisis is deeply rooted in loneliness and depression among Korea's young generations. South Korean suicide is the leading cause of death for those aged 10-30. This mental health crisis is jeopardizing the very survival of Korean society.

The extreme pressure, with students studying to avoid falling behind, is a major contributing factor. While the education system and economic data may look impressive on paper, the immense toll it takes on young people has left them feeling hopeless and unwilling to have children.

Urgent action is needed, not judging or punishing, but empowering young Koreans and addressing the systemic issues underlying this alarming crisis.
