Poetic Film Review: Finding Forrester (2000)
In the world of film, a story unfolds,
Of Jamal and Forrester, their tale retold.
A young writer with talent untold,
A recluse mentor, secrets unfold.
Critics search for hidden meanings,
In a story of mentorship and leanings.
But beneath the surface, cliches abound,
Romantic subplot, racial diversity found.
A tale of talent, of race and class,
Of mentorship and overcoming the past.
But in its ambition, it falls short,
Of the standards set, of a different sort.
Rob Brown shines in his debut role,
But even with Connery, the film lacks soul.
A shadow of films that came before,
Finding Forrester leaves much to explore.
As debates on wokeness rage on,
This film reminds us of issues long gone.
Of simple single-issue prisms we see,
In a world where complexity should be.
