Poetic Film Review: Roberta (1935)
In the golden age of Hollywood, they danced,
Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers entranced.
Their chemistry on screen was undeniable,
But in "Roberta," their magic seemed unreliable.
Based on a Broadway musical of fame,
The film lacked the spark of their previous acclaim.
Irene Dunne held her own in the cast,
But Astaire and Rogers were unsurpassed.
A tale of love, fashion, and jealousy,
With a predictable plot that lacked complexity.
Though the dance numbers were a delight,
The film as a whole failed to take flight.
Despite its flaws, "Roberta" was a hit,
A classic that many still commit.
For fans of old Hollywood charm,
This film may still hold some charm.
But in the end, it falls short of their best,
An Astaire-Rogers film that failed the test.
For those seeking true movie magic,
"Roberta" may not work its classic.
