In the depths of New York City's streets,
Where crime and corruption meet,
"The Yards" tells a tale so grim,

Leo, just released from prison's hold,
Faces a world so dark and cold,
With family ties and friendships strained,
In a life of crime, he's now ingrained.

Mark Wahlberg plays the troubled lead,
In a role that's raw and full of need,
Joaquin Phoenix, a friend turned foe,
In a world where choices are made to grow.

Charlize Theron shines bright,
In a role that's filled with light,
Amidst the darkness that surrounds,
Her love for Leo knows no bounds.

James Gray paints a picture so real,
Of a world where crime is the only deal,
Where lines are blurred and morals fade,
In the pursuit of a better trade.

With a soundtrack that haunts and grips,
And performances that never slip,
"The Yards" stands tall and true,
A film that's bleak but worth the view.

Despite its flaws and troubled past,
This film will surely last,
In the hearts of those who see,
The essence of humanity.
