SEC-17/W6|Do you believe history repeats itself?
Hello incredible India community and steemians, it is my outmost pleasure to participate in this final engagement challenge of season 17. It has been a good run and I commend the community for all the exciting topics which has expanded our scope of knowledge.
History has been known to repeat itself a lot of times, from our daily life to global scale we always hear of the phrase but for this post it will be a different approach to the proverb. Indulge me!
Do you believe history repeats itself through genes? Justify. |

Now this I must confess is a thought-provoking question. As we all know, genes play a significant roles in deciding and shaping our physical appearance and some traits. I am not likely inclined to believe that history repeats itself only through genes.
However, there are undoubtedly connections between generations that go beyond genetic inheritance. In Nigeria for example, a specific tribe is known to be good at some things because that is what their ancestors were good at.
But I also do believe that with a combination of other factors such as environmental, social and spiritual factors then history can repeat itself through genes.
I have seen the son of a thief become a thief because he grew up in the same environment as their father.
Inversely, I have also seen the son of smoker stay away from smoking because of a change in environment and religious influence.
I believe that even if some behavioural threats can be transferred through our genes from generations to generations, there are factors which can either enable or disable these traits which I listed some examples above.

Well, for me I have some traits from my father which is anger, I get upset easily. But the way I grow up has made to not act like he used to. I can not allow my anger to make me hit people or beat someone up because the environment I grew up in changed that.
My mom on the other hand passed down the trait of being kind and giving. I love to help people whenever I can. I love to solve others people's problems and this is what I know my mom to do.
I on my own do not have any kids yet to know if they have inherited any traits from me.

The habit that makes me smile and to believe in the proverb is the way I love helping people. As I stated earlier this is a trait I got from my mom because she loves to care for people very much.
I know how to cook very well and I can't place whom I got the trait from because my both parents are very wonderful in the kitchen.
Lastly, I find myself to be an intelligent type because I excell well in my academics and I think I got this from my dad too.
The above are habits that make me proud.

My opinion is that I believe the proverb "history repeats itself," is a reminder that our experiences as humans, both successes and failures, can be valuable lessons for future generations. They can by studying and learning from the past, break cycles of negative patterns and build upon the achievements of those who came before them.

In conclusion of my post, I'd say that while genes play a role in shaping our traits, history's legacy is carried forward through a complex interplay of genetic, environmental ,cultural, and social factors. If we acknowledge and learn from our past, we can create a brighter future for ourselves and future generations.

Nicely written @zekanem, I must confess you did very well, and I share your opinion that other factors are also responsible for history repeating it self but however genes is the constant and unchanging factor, and why say this is well explained in my own entry.

Digamos que existen dos factores que influyen en nuestras acciones... En primera instancia está el genético y, en segunda el social pero, entre ambas, no podemos negar que, el que más influencia tiene es la genética ya que, esto se hereda mientras que, el otro se aprende y, si no es de nuestro agrado, sencillamente lo rechazamos pero, cuando se trata de genes, estos llegan queramos o no.
