I remember the first time I stood at the base of an “ Old Growth “ Western Red Cedar and looked UP!😮
Many of these “Legacy trees” were growing long before Columbus set sail towards North America!😇
It’s easy to become tired of Springtime rains, but this is the “high octane” fuel that produces these giant trees!😊
Two main species of evergreen trees dominate the Mountains of the Cascades.

On the left, is a stunning Douglas Fir tree!
The timber from this tree is predominantly used for home construction, it is second to none!😊
On the right is the majestic Western Red Cedar! This tree also has many uses, from fencing, to decks, siding, and so much more!
The fifth photo is Paul’s old log cabin………
Only steps from this cabins front door stands this very tall Douglas Fir tree!😊
Down the road at Silvertop’s home stands an equally large Western Red Cedar tree, casting its very large shadow over our home!😇
Today the rain stopped…………………
