The dangers of politicians using their pro-crypto position to win voters
Hello friends of Project HOPE, I hope you had a great weekend, even here in Colombia I can tell you that today, Monday is a holiday, so it will be a quiet day throughout the city. But that is not specifically what I want to talk to you about today, but rather about a recent event involving the former president and current candidate for the presidency of the United States, Donald Trump, who says that if they are pro-crypto they should vote for him.
This, while it seems very encouraging, does not guarantee that once it has won, if it happens, it will really be a support for the crypto environment. While it is true that he has exposure to NFTs, created by him, or by his team, the reality is that you cannot believe any politician when they are campaigning, because in this aspect, as with others, it could be that they are just promises in search of votes, and then forget about it if he is elected, in general, it is what politicians do in general.
But not everything stops there, in what was mentioned above. And it is evident that, in the digital and technological era in which we live, cryptocurrency has become a relevant issue in the political sphere. Increasingly, we will see how politicians try to use their position in favor of cryptocurrency to gain the support of a sector of the population that is interested in this type of digital asset. However, this support may just be a trick to gain votes...
Another danger, which I consider important to highlight in this post, is that politicians could be deceiving procrypt citizens to obtain their vote, and then, if a politician promises to be procrypt and then does not fulfill that promise, he would be betraying the trust of his voters and, in a certain way, negatively affecting the democracy that he defends so much.
This, in the end, would not only affect the credibility of the politician in question, but could also have negative consequences for the image of the cryptocurrency in general. Since those who follow them would enter into the same thing that has always happened and that was part of the reasons that generated the creation of BTC.
Also, and it is another big problem, if politicians use their proscribed position as a trick to gain votes, they could be diverting attention from other important issues that require more attention in society. Instead of addressing real problems, such as education, health or security, they could be distracting the population with empty promises about cryptocurrency. This could have a negative impact on the development and progress of society as a whole.
Like everything in the world, politics will always look for a way to take advantage of everything, but it depends on the citizens of each country as a whole if they allow themselves to be played with in that way or not, in the end, who shapes society or The medium of your speech can have a much greater power than anyone could think.
