How to Manage Your Time and Watch Yourself

Time is strange... It's either too much or not enough... It looks like there is no middle ground. This is why most people have trouble keeping track of time. You probably look at the timer a lot and wonder how to make the most of your time.

This reading might make you want to make the most of your time. Remember that time is running out, no matter how fast you go. Why not use your limited time to do things that are good for you?

What I'm going to talk about is a metaphor I came across in college. When I wanted to or had to do something for the first time, it would stress me out. I wouldn't know what to do or how to fit everything into one day if I didn't have time to rest and catch up. A lot of the time, I tried to do too much at once and got tired.

I'm probably not the only one. It's fun to do things like cook, go to the market, hang out with friends, read a book, go to events and shows, sit in a café, play an instrument, go out to dinner, and see family, but too much of it can wear us out.

Start with the small ones after the big ones. Pick out small stones and put them all the way to the top of the jar.

The meaning of this metaphor is that we should set goals. Ask yourself, "What are my big rocks?" before you start the work you need to do tomorrow.

Think about both your jobs and your mood when planning your days and weeks. It is true that being busy can make it hard to think clearly and move quickly.

There are times when we have to work harder to stop worrying and get things done. There are times when some of us just want to stay home and relax.

Other times, we need to talk to someone about our worries, take deep breaths, take a long bath, eat a wonderful meal, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea in peace, watch a movie or book, play sports, or go for a peaceful walk in the park.

In this case, keep in mind that this is normal. If you're mentally sick, don't overdo it. Don't be in a hurry; we all do that sometimes. Take care of yourself and put yourself first. Like the big stone in the jar, put yourself in first.

You can get more energy in any way you want. Just for a little while... Don't forget that you don't have to wait hours for what you want. A self-care day once in a while is a good idea if you can afford it.
