Silent Bells

in #contemplation4 years ago (edited)

When the bell no longer rings then evil is afoot.

That may make a lot more sense to me than it does to you. One day you may find yourself understanding it and it may be a different saying but the sentiment remains.

They say life is stranger than fiction and this may be true. In fiction you have a curve with ups and downs, you have indications of what is good. Your hero, villain and victim are almost always clearly defined.

In life, you don't have that luxury, in life no one knows whether something is truly good. It may seem good then it leads to bad. It may seem bad and lead to good.

In fiction, these are just plot twists that do lead to a conclusion. Many times they are created specifically that way to evoke emotion.

Things blend more in life, you may guess at the conclusion but be reminded that such a conclusion is momentary and fleeting. Accept the good as you do the bad because they are the same.

What you do with either is what makes the difference.

Bell | Woman

When the bell no longer rings
Evil is afoot

Do you remember when it rang?
Do you believe all to be good?

Not a buzz a cling or a ding,
why won't the bell ring?

When it rang there was light,
a buzz and clinking of delight.

Do you remember when it rang?
With it, life has taken flight.
With the bell, there was light.

Now souls in darkness delight.

Sort:

Do souls in darkness ever delight? Others' visions of Hell for example - given to us through art and stories - do they need to be so scary with demons jabbing you all the time, and making your after-life Hell?

I think a bad Hell-like experience could be as simple as being aware, but not able to do anything. No torture, no pain - just awareness and boredom for all of eternity. To me, that would be just as bad and unbearable as any popular description of Hell that I'm aware of.

Based on a normal person, but what if the person is different, what if the soul is darker? Would even traditional Hell not be just a playground? :)

An interesting point you bring up. I've never really thought of souls as being light or dark, but maybe I should have at some point. I've always just thought of a soul as being like a standard issue type thing that we all get, but looking around at the really evil beings of the world, some of them give me the feeling they're SO damned evil that there had to be something wrong with them even before they were born.

Maybe those types are honored in traditional Hell. I don't know but it seems like a possibility.

Oh how I love how you put the words after another.

Life makes no sense. Fiction that does the same, rarely is on the top of the best of the best list of ordinary people. Life has to make sense, but when it doesn't, fiction must satisfy our need of purpose and deliverance to those who deserve it. What ever they may deserve. Good things to good people and bad things to bad people. Fiction delivers.

Kill those we do not like in our fiction :) Yeah I think I also don't really like watching things that are too realistic, it seems odd but I do want that deliverance as you mention.

I love the way you can put something in words. Then I think damn, that is how I feel. You are just better with expressing it. Life is a bitch and unfair and hard and demanding. Nobody said it will only be easy but it sure is worth it most of the time.
