Beach Wednesday thinking back to warmer days
For this post my thoughts were on how I am getting tired of winter and knowing it's not even at it speak yet, with the cold temperatures, wind and snow in the forecast for this weekend and I started thinking back to warmer days, so I looked through my archives and found some shots for BeachWednesday - led by @lizanomadsoul and initiated by @uwelang

So let's think warm and take a walk barefoot in the sand out onto the beach, in this case Walnut Beach in Milford CT. the most popular beach in summer here, it gets really crowded during the day, but not early in the morning which is when I took these shots.
This is walking from the car park out onto the beach and with the pier directly ahead of us.

Now I have walked along the beach a little, and ma looking back towards the pier, with Charles island out on the sound almost looking like its a short jump from the pier to the Island.
But looks can be deceiving, it is well out in the sound of course, and you cannot jump out to it, but it is possible to walk out tot he Island on a sand Bar at low tide, but you have to be very sensible and careful if you do walk out there, when the tide comes back in the sandbar is covered and there can be a very strong rip across the sand bar, sadly some people have ignored the signs warning off this and there have had to have many rescues of people who got caught in the rip and washed away, and sadly also some cases since I have lived here when the rescue boat could not get there in time to save the people and a few lives have been lost.

And finishing off with a last shoon the other sid eof the pier looking down the beach with thetide out and some tidal pools on the sand.
I hope this little virtual walk warmed you up if your in the depth of Winer and feeling the cold like I am.

It sure is a beautiful world we live in here we get hot summers and cold winters I kind of miss where I grew up and both were pretty mild
Beautiful photos! They really do convey warmth, and it is pretty cold here, so it's nice to see them.
I can imagine that island drawing people to it when the tide is out - terrible that some then get swept away. It looks deceptively calm.
I was caught in very strong sea currents in Costa Rica a few years ago, and it felt terrifying - I was swimming as hard as I could, yet I was just getting swept further out to sea. Eventually I turned over onto my back, kicked my legs hard and did butterfly strokes with my arms, and that got me back to the shore.
Thanks, I may need more shots like this after looking at the forecast for the next few days.
Ohh yes tides and rip tides can be so deceptive and dangerous, Glad you got out OK when you got caught.
I have swam in them many times many years ago, but I was traine don how to handle them and very fit, Part of working as a Surf Life guard for a few seasons
A lifeguard? That's a good skill to have.
Ohh yes it was, but I was young and fit them, times have changed and so have I LOL

I do love ge being by the water for sunrise but it’s been just too cold of recent to do the beach visits
