Monochrome Monday walking around the Pond in Central Park

Monochrome Monday walking around the Pond in Central Park

This is a post for Monochrome Monday hosted by @old-guy-photos A challenge I try to join as often as I can, the other challenges he hosts are Sepia Saturday and Tree Tuesday, all fun challenges and worth checking out.

For this weeks post, I will share a few shots I took walking in Central Park, in particularly the trails around the Pond in the corner of Central Park, near 5th Ave and 59th Street.

This first shot shows a little portion of the pond, but what I liked most about this shot was the shapes of the bare trees and the cool reflections of the Pond.

Now the reason I like this part of Central Park and often visit there is threefold, Firstly my favorite bridge in Central Park is this old Bridge which is called Gaptswow bridge (which I will share some shots of in a future post), secondly, the pond itself is a beautiful area, and thirdly it the easiest part of the park for me to quickly get to from Grand Central and then get back to the office in time for work

Around the pond they have some cool feautures, such as this old and rustic looking fence and gate

Like most parks in NYC there are many places you can take a seat and rets your legs if getting a bit tired, the coolest ones in my mind being ones like this made in a old style, handcrafted feel.

Not that your likely to forget where you are while in Central Park, but if you look down on any of the covert covers in the park, you will be reminded where you are.

Such a cool pictures for monochrome edition! I can't pick the favorite!

Thanks I think for me this time the first is my favorite :)

You are the boss 😎

Yes but I love hearing which ones people like i then go back and ok at them and see what I did for future ideas :)

I think I've got some pictures of that bridge from one of my visits. Nice shots! I have always been impressed with Central Park and the history of it. I remember watching a documentary one time about Manhattan and the section on Central Park was really interesting.

I am sure you will have its one of the easiest bridges to get to in the park, I remember whenI first got here and did my first visit to the park. I Was amazed and next stop was a library when I sat reading books about its history for a couple of hours, of course nowadays I could do the same with google in the park LOL

Very true!

But occasionally I do miss the looking through books at the library, I was talking about that to a colleague at work one day last week and we plan to visit the big library on 5th Ave soon neither of us have even been inside it

It's such an amazing park. When we had our place in Boston I always thought how much it was a 'small town' compared to the vastness of NYC. We lived on Comm ave which has a long park that runs up the center with statues and plantings and culminates in The Public Garden and the eventually the Boston Common. I walked there often, everyday with the dogs when I was there, but it is not vast like the Central Park.

However, there is just something about city parks that have an escapist feel. Having water, boats, statues, gardens in the hum of a city always seem so magical.

Enjoy the park and hope you had a lovely Easter @tattoodjay

Yes magical is such a cool way to describe it especially deep in in the park where you can almost forget your in the big city

I love the sound of Boston,I have bent here twice but it was for a conference so. Was stuck indoors all day and did not see much, if or when we move to MA, I will have to do some day trips there :)
