I just fear that fact that the new paradigm is technology based runs the risk of just increasing the gap between those that have and those that don't. A high percentage of the world doesn't have access to the technology that we do and even those of those receive a highly restricted version. How we do we make sure they don't get left behind in this new world?
Many nations have an advantage in that they dont need to go through the extended buildout that the western countries did. In the next few years, we will start to see the development of SpaceX and others satellite services that blanket the world.
Within 10 years, the entire planet will be on the internet....the question is how many countries will restrict it? That will unfold as time goes by but I am sure that we will see more technology that gets around government censorship.
I hope we can find a way to get internet to the masses. I agree satellite will get the internet there. We just need some cheap tech and the means to distribute it (and provide power). I hope other countries won't restrict it... but I am sure some will.
