RE: @luckforsale's Unlucky Day: Exposé on a Chinese Plagiarist Network

in #abuse6 years ago (edited)

I'd love to help flag plagiarized posts but with my puny SP, any retaliation will any future posts I do. You said it yourself. He is revenge downvoting.

This is one of the main problems with the Steemit platform. The system actually encourages a "war" of sorts. Also, if a person who is abusing the platform has a large amount of SP, it falls to those others with a large amount to police them. So those people have the option to:

  1. Be somewhat self serving and vote for themselves.
  2. Be benevolent and vote for others/curate.
  3. Police the platform and "waste the vote".

Steemit won't succeed unless flagging and abuse are taken care of in a different way.

Sort:

You are forgetting an option- Report it to steemcleaners and have them flag the plagiarized posts. You remain anonymous, the person doing the plagiarism is warned/flagged if needed, and you even earn a small reward for helping to fight said plagiarism.

Ah I've seen steemcleaners around but didn't know you could report users to them. That's great! I'll make use of it in the future. That's just what is needed. A further incentive for flagging users who are abusing the platform. Upvoting gives you the incentive of curation and connecting with other users. Downvoting is purely benevolent in it's current state.

Yup, just report it at steemcleaners.org, you'll see what kind of abuse is within their scope and what isn't. Lots of good information there :)
