Salem City Trade Seals

However, the story of Kuala Batu was not merely about the battles involving US Navy warships, USS Potomac.

More than that, Kuala Batu once played a major role in the history of the city of Salem.

In the early nineteenth century, Salem's trade had helped the city become the richest man per capita in the United States.

The Salem.org website and www.crwflags.com write that the Salem City seal design used in the city's official trade in the past was inspired by trade relations with the Aceh Kingdom.

"Even Salem's seals, when reproduced correctly, still bear the image of an Acehnese," reads www.crwflags.com.
Reviewing the description of this Salem City trademark flag, crwflags.com writes.

"In 1654, Elihu Yale sent two employees

to Aceh, the largest independent empire in Sumatra, to establish pepper trade. Much of the pepper charge was to Salem, Massachusetts from Sumatra on November 6, 1846, at the brig Lucilla.

Since RAJAH Salem filled the first milk pepper, Salem held a dominant position in the trade.

Once the importance of its position, a hundred years later, in Australia, whole pepper is still known as "Salem Pepper".
