How Close Acehnese to Chamic Language?

Acehnese is a language which is spoken in Aceh province, Indonesia. The language is mainly used in North Aceh, Bireuen, Pidie, West Aceh, East Aceh, Banda Aceh, and some areas in South Aceh. However, Acehnese as one of the Austronesian language shares the similarities to the Chamic language which is produced in Southern Vietnam and Cambodia. The similarities could be seen from its morphological and lexical items, such as (PC) *panah ‘shoot’ (bow) becomes ‘panah’ in Acehnese means ‘shoot’ (bow). *paday ‘rice’ (paddy) becomes ‘pade’ in Acehnese means ‘rice’. (paddy) *muda ‘young’ becomes ‘muda’ in Acehnese means ‘young’. *mamah ‘chew’ becomes ‘mamah’ in Acehnese means ‘chew’

Denys Lombard in his book Acehnese Kingdom: Iskandar Muda Sultanate (1607-1636) stated that Acehnese was firstly introduced by Champ Prince known as Šah Pu Liaŋ (liŋ). He was driven out by the Vietnamese and looked for protection to Aceh and established new nation. As a result there was a language influence.
