I had about 7000 steps yesterday also, but I only activated the app after noon. It's the native Samsung one that I use. About 6000 of them I did just from a long walk. Today I hope that I will pass 10,000 at ease and I am going to do something today that my future self will thank my in the future :) Say hi to rocket :)!
There certainly is a discrepancy between the various step-tracking apps.
As long as each app is consistent in the way it is measuring, I am more interested in the trend.

I noticed the discrepancy. I use the samsung one for its other features that actifit doesn't have. Couldn't get over 10,000 steps today though...
