A Beautiful Afternoon on Carlyle Lake - My Actifit Report Card: June 9 2019
We slept in this morning after our late night out dancing yesterday and fully intended to take an easy day hanging out at home. However, the nice sunny day begged not to be wasted so we headed to Caryle Lake to hike some trails and walk the dam. There are miles of trails for both walking and biking.
We are always looking for new places to do our #seven77 videos so I decided to do mine while overlooking the lake. You can find the video posted on Twitter HERE.
We saw some bird nests attached to the side of the concrete building at the center of the dam. At first, I thought they were huge wasp or hornet nests and I was ready to turn around and go the other way. I sure didn't want to meet anything with a stinger big enough to live in those! But we soon noticed the birds flying in and out of them. I'm amazed at how they built these nests to have them stick to the side of that concrete wall.

Thanks, the beautiful day just wouldn't allow us to stay indoors. Winter will be here before you know it so we need to take advantage of very nice days.
Great stepping 💪 and beautiful pictures from the lake🙌. Those birds are naturally talented to be building like that 😍. Did you know nests like that are edible and highly sought especially in china, was shocked to see that documentary a few years ago 😱

OMG I would have never thought of those nests being edible! Well the birds must know that and to protect themselves they have placed those nests in spot pretty much unreachable. That portion of the building is hanging over the water rushing out the bottom of the dam.

Yes the breeze made it very pleasant walking across the dam in full sun. I even got a little bit of sun tan for a change. We'll have to go back soon and explore more of the many trails.
