퇴근길 클래식 수업... 중에서
오케스트라에서 악기 연주자들을 이야기할 때 보통 끝에 ‘~ist’를 붙인다. ‘~을 이용하는 사람’이라는 접미사인데, 예를 들어 ‘바이올리니스트(Violinist)’, ‘피아니스트(Pianist)’ 등이 있다. 하지만 트럼펫만 접미사 ‘~er’, 즉 ‘~을 하는 사람’이라는 접미사를 사용한다. 즉 ‘트럼펫티스트(Trumpetist)’가 아닌 ‘트럼펫터(Trumpeter)’라 부르는 것이다. 악기를 연주한다는 개념보다 악기를 이용해 무엇을 하는 사람이라 생각했기 때문이다.
트럼펫터라고 부르는 걸 새롭게 알았다.
