Beach got an upgrade!
The beach of Santo Amaro is the nearest beach to home. And although it has a greatside walk that stretches far beyond the beach, making for a great running route (and the one I usually take), it's not a beach I normally consider to go for a swim!
But this year, the infrastructures on the beach got a really nice upgrade, such as beach showers, and improved recycling points, as the ones ones below; and all well located near the entry points.
And to top it all... this year, and for the first time since I recall, the beach was awarded with the Blue Flag, a distincion awarded to beaches that fulfill high standarts of water quality, eco-friendly characteristics, and support infrastructures to its visitors! I must admit, the water quality doesn't convince me that much... but it's a fact: the flag is waving there! :)

What a beautiful beach. Back in Australia we are not allowed any development on beaches at all. Nor can they be privatised. My first trip to Europe it was a big surprise to see bars and structures built on the sand.

That doesn't sound so bad. I agree with some development, especially in urban beaches like this one, if providing recycling points and supports structures such as showers.
A very picturesque beach @pardinus It all looks very relaxing. I daresay it will be visited often, especially after the upgrade.
It sure is, but mainly because it has easy access... there are far more beautiful beaches here! ;)
