...From the teenage age to this moment when one is about climaxing the youthful age of 28 and above, we have continued to hear with dismay that we are the leaders of tomorrow. Sincerely its disheartening to continue to recall that from teenage we were giving false hopes, as no enabling environments were giving neither were they sustainable development in other to cater for our needs as future generations.

Only the government of few countries have considered the principles of sustainable development which posits that *" its the taking care of the present generations without compromising that of future generations"

Without fear or favour, I am sorry to say that 80% of African countries especially Nigeria where i am from, since after gaining independence in 1960 and a republic in 1963 cannot boost of 50% millennium development goals (MDG's) not to talk on sustainable development goals (SDG's).

The government are killing the "Will Power" of youths who make up about 70% of their about 189+ million population.

Most of the leaders whom have been in power since independence in 1960 has continued to allow power to rotate amongst themselves without considering if the youth should be carried along. The worse of it all is that the the youths makes up 80% of voters during the elections and once its over they (youth) never appointment neither do they have employment.

It is sardonic to also bring to the world that the unemployment rate rocking the youth in Nigeria is alarming, every year it is estimated that about 10,000 or more youths graduate from institutions with various degrees certificate only to meet the "dead and buried" labour market. Millions of youths with brighter future are seen roaming the streets in search of white collar jobs which never exist, it may interest you to also know that in adding salt to injury Nigeria some months back was declared among the world poverty country.

This is as a result of neglect to these youths, who are hard working and hustling to be good ambassador and meet family end needs as some of them are being looked up by the family who have coughed out huge amount of money as tuition fees for them while they were in school, although frustration and idleness has also lead some good number of them into a lot of social ills such as drug abuse, rape, armed robbery, cyber crime and what have you.

Lack of implementation of proper government policies, and even those implemented are just mere window dressing, toothless bulldogs or even mere paper tiger as the case maybe.
Corruption and corrupt government officials or office holders are not left out as the cause or causes of our problems here in Nigeria. In fact it is with shame that i write to tell you that here, what is "wrong" is seen as the "right" and the "right" is seen as an outdated form. In other to get a job or contract, you have to belong to the higher class, the big wigs in the society or even know someone who occupies a strong position. If that doesn't work you will have to bribe your way into getting a job, most times job seekers who bribe in other to get a job are scammed in the process too.

History will not forgive me if i fail to mention the effect of Prebendalism and Clientalism on Nigerian youths, where the qualified never gets the job, where those on merits and deserving never get the job only for the unqualified or unmerited ones gets the job because either the parents knows someone or could be that the parents themselves are the ones securing that position for themselves.

I could go on and on, on my lamentations about how our promised future/tomorrow has been shattered and dreams being killed due to the facts that the Government and policy makers in Nigeria carelessly do not include the youths in their programme or policy.

"Remember youths are nation builders, invest in them you build a reputable nation, joke with them, you are up for destruction"

Hon. Charlze Anyichukwu Agbasi 2018.

With this, i hope the government will revisit its policies and make serious amends on issues that concerns the YOUTH, before it gets out of hand. This is my humble submission.
