I liked your story, @churchboy. There is a clear denunciation. I believe that all of us, in each of the countries in which we live, can see how politics becomes an ally of the big mafias. There are more and more cases in which politicians are killed for getting involved with gangs. In some cases, the politicians themselves are white-collar mafiosi with ties or they surround themselves with criminals. At least in your story the protagonist is saved to tell it, in many cases that is not the end. The universalization of corruption and the mafia world of politics. As always, @adsactly brings us an interesting and current story
Thank you @nancybriti. You always leave the most wonderful comments, often completing my story. Yes, in this case Clive lived to tell the tale. Unfortunately, when the politicians arm thugs to help them rig elections, the guns are procured at great expense. More unfortunate also is the fact that it becomes impossible to retrieve these guns from the thugs after the elections. In the end, they become more powerful than their benefactors. However, because their benefactors can often afford better security, being rich themselves and often armed with state funds, the public become the victims. After elections, crimes such as armed robbery and kidnapping rates go up while the politicians claim ignorance of the root causes.
Because these gangs are the instrument of their power, they find ways of protecting the thugs. Other times, there is really nothing they can do but present the public with false evidence of having solved the security problems that come on the heels of the election year. In the case of this story, the governor presented a man that died during election rigging as the true face of terror while the real terror lives and probably switches from armed robbery to kidnapping.
It is a sad state of affairs and it is not getting better in most countries of the world.
