The Twins Explore Funtopia & Practice Their Baby-Climbing SkillssteemCreated with Sketch.

@ironmanmatt has started taking Korean lessons in exchange for English lessons. He's been learning on his own for a couple of years now, so it's great that he can practice one-on-one with a native speaker. Because his lessons are in a cafe nearby a mall, the girls and I tag along and go exploring.

Funtopia

Last time, we visited Funtopia. They have a section called Jungle Ropes which is designed to teach older children how to climb and overcome a fear of heights. They also have a Magic Maze, which according to their website is suitable for 1-8 year-olds. But when we wheeled up in our stroller, the manager looked a little surprised. He told me to let the girls try it out before I paid because he thought they might be too little and wouldn't like it.

Thankfully it was a weekday and there weren't any other kids around. I was able to go inside with them and we had the entire place to ourselves. Both girls are walking now, so they could stumble around without getting run over by big kids. Even though they couldn't explore everything, they really enjoyed climbing around on the lower level.

Entering the play area:

After entering the play place, there was a long "hallway" with bumpy stumps that they could climb over and sit on. Through some hanging pillars (that Squirt did not like trying to get through) and around the corner, there was a mountain they had to climb. Then a portal that led to these swivel seats:

Another corner and there were steps leading to a slide. The girls climbed up two landings, but we didn't go any further. (Mommy wanted them to feel confident exploring on their own and if they'd gone any higher, she would've had to help them a lot...)

We played in just those areas for almost an hour. Squish was walking around like a pro. And Squirt loved being able to climb. But near the end, I could tell she was overwhelmed by all the new things to see and do. She crawled up in my lap and leaned against me. I asked her if she was tired and she waved her hand, "Bye, bye."

When we left, the manager only charged us RM5 (about $1)! He said he gave us half-off ... maybe because he was so impressed by their skills :)

Review

The twins and I would give Funtopia 4.5 stars.

The only negative is that the girls couldn't utilize everything. However, I would definitely take them again on a weekday. There aren't many places where they can crawl around and roam freely. And since there weren't any other kids there, Mommy didn't have to worry about them getting crushed. Even without the discount, it's definitely a reasonable price.

Maybe next time we go, Mommy can watch from the outside and finish a coffee ... before it gets cold!

I'm a SteemitMama now!

I'm so used to "going this on my own" that I keep forgetting! I was invited to, and recently joined, @SteemitMamas. I'm still learning how it works to be involved, but I've enjoyed getting to know the other mamas and reading about their parenting adventures. Maybe we can have a live meetup of SteemitMamas at Funtopia!

Korean? No kidding? I wouldnt have guessed there was much call for Korean in Malaysia. I studied and spoke some Cantonese before. Practiced it for over a year. But cant recall more than moderate vocab anymore.

It is good exercise learning languages...but I learn best by immersion. Thats how i learned my Spanish.

Lovely photos of the girls. Awesome to see them enjoying a good challenge!!

Peace

Learning Korean is more of a personal hobby for him, but there are actually a lot of Koreans here! Learning a language definitely helps you understand the culture better. We just learned the other day that in Korea, they don't really say "You're welcome." Instead, you might say, "It's nothing," which is actually similar to the response in the Middle East. It helps to understand the mindset a little better I think (and why Americans are perceived the way they are -- often in a negative light) :'(

Hello beautiful girls, that looks a lot of fun! And yes, children are full of surprises they can do a task we thought they are not capable yet. Glad to see you girls. Xx

I'm sure they had a lot of fun! Glad you got to take them there. Its great that there are some nice people in the world! Sounds like a great place! I'm to old for that though.
