It is saturday night again and that means we are looking at some crazy adverts.

in #adverts5 years ago

I am hoping that I can post this tonight as we are scheduled for 8pm lights out until 12.30 am. We aren't sure as the timetable has changed and we have moved of a level 2 to a level 4 which now means it all changes or does it. It is a lottery and just pure guesswork it seems.

This is from the 90's I think and it is about internet auctions it seems.I guess it's a spoof on ebay but I am not 100 percent sure as I don't think it's a real advert though. Quite funny with the late bid though and had to put it in.

I can see why this one got banned as we all know the history between Coke and Pepsi. I thought it was based more on religion at one point as Pepsi always sponsors Pakistan Cricket and Coca Cola Indian cricket. They are always trying to outdo each other and this is a massive rivalry between two giant companies. I delved a little deeper and it is interesting how Coca Cola grew in the Middle East. I am going off topic slightly, but this is a fun fact.

Pepsi had a majority of the market share at the time in this region and how Coke stole the show was by offering free Coke fridges with their stock. They issued 1000's of fridges and caught Pepsi off guard. Only Coca Cola products were allowed in these fridges and Pepsi was sold off the shelf at the time. Obviously you would rather have an ice cold drink compared to a room temperature one so they became number one overnight due to this marketing strategy.

Back onto the adverts and I am sure this was pulled off air rather quickly.

The lights have gone again and have no idea how the timetable is working so I will post when the power comes back on. Next week I will be more prepared and have it completed the day before. According to this chart it says we are off again at 8am until 12.30 pm tomorrow lunchtime and then again on Tuesday. This place is seriously screwed up and no one should be living like this in 2019. This week alone I have had the plug pulled 3 times on me and have noticed driving through other areas during the day when the traffic lights are out how widespread this problem really is.

Sort:

This light palava is our daily cup of tea in this part, you see people jubilating here whenever the light is turned on, even after weeks, most people have to run on generators and spend a lot on buying fuel, a lot of companies had to shut down and move to Ghana or neighboring countries where the electricity is better, e.g Dunlop tires. etc...not to talk of people who could hardly afford to fuel their generators...
Sorry, just manage, kinda used to it already.

I hear you, but it shouldn't be like this. I have a feeling that the government here is in for a shock as I can see many solar installations coming now. The ones that are going to do it are the ones who can afford to and it is going to reduce the numbers who are paying for electricity. We all know here that if this happens the price will be hiked up again to pay for the shortfall.

Yeah the solar has been a lot of help to those who can afford it, but i guess with time it should be more accessible than it is now, moreso, there is more knowledge flowing about self building solar panels, but on a small scale, with time, we will see more influx of solar panels powering household appliances, the only hold the government will have on that is restricting the importation of the solar materials, but I'm sure there will be ways around it.

The world we are going into speaks a lot of liberation, where people use technology to do almost everything the government does....the government better brace up...the future is here

I agree with you and they are worried. They were discussing putting certain things in place such as having to pay for a solar licence which is just totally crazy. They know less and less users will be paying for electricity soon so they are trying to restrict it. Everything today is about trying to milk us for whatever money they can.

Ok, that first advert was sad, probably because there is a little truth in there, not that firemen would do this but it speaks to society in general.

I thought the second advert was hilarious.

Sorry to hear about your energy issues. Must be tough.
