They have gone to 19 AFCON competitions, winning 5 times. They are also the current AFCON holders. Rigobert Song also made it to a record 8 times AFCON appearances for a single player.
On the international stage, Les Lions Indomptables has been to seven fifa world cup competitions, the most by an African team. Also, they were the very first african nation to make it to the fifa World quarter finals.
While the days of Rigobert, Eto'o fils and those giant men are long gone, this new team still likes to win. Their recent AFCON triumph is a timely reminder.
So, you see, these guys love the game.
Now, the onus is on them to defend their crown. Then, you get to wonder, can they?
