Captains Candidates for Round 17! @dahmsy79 is here to help you get the 4 points
Hi Everyone,
We now arrive to Round 17 and Dream team Finals are just around the corner.
For those still in contention, getting your captain right is more important than ever.
T Mitchell (Hawthorn)
Mitchell remains the obvious safe choice most weeks but his 96 last week showed he is not a sure thing every week and can have his down weeks.
Still, I think it is far riskier to not put the C on him as we all know what he can do some weeks and he is still my number 1 choice.
Playing the Lions is Launceston this week should pose no problems at all and I expect a big one from the great man.
A Gaff (West Coast)
Gaff is just shooting up the overall fantasy rankings and consistently gets leather poisoning thanks to his ability to run all day.
He is without a doubt the modern day Robert Harvey and after a 146 last week he stays right in the frame for the C each week.
He has a tough away game against the Pies this week but unlike some of his team mates, Gaff has no problems playing in Melbourne as shown by his huge day last time out against Hawthorn.
M Gawn (Melbourne)
It is a toss of the coin out of him or Grundy this week as both scored in the 120's last week and are 2nd/3rd in total Fantasy points for the year.
Grundy gets the nod this week thanks to his easier opposition as Grundy will have his hands full with an in form Nit Nat.
No such issues for Gawn though as he comes up against a slightly undersized Tom Boyd who is in decent form but nowhere near the level to cause Gawn problems.
Expect Gawn to take marks at will around the ground and will rack up another big score.
D Smith (Essendon)
They are saying he is the recruit of the year and it is getting hard to argue with that as Smith just keeps starring.
Fresh off a 150 last week, Smith is now much more of a Midfielder than a Small Forward these days and he sure knows how to find the football.
Playing a Gold Coast side that is suffering badly from cue in the rack syndrome, Smith should be able to do as he pleases.
Could make a great point of difference Captain option for this week if you are lucky enough to own him.
