Hi Everyone,

Welcome to the Round 18 Captains Preview.

With just two Rounds to go stakes are high and getting the Captain choice right has never been more vital.

Thank God for Tom Mitchell eh?

T Mitchell (Hawthorn)

Mitchell once again is the clear go to for the Captain’s choice this week on the back off another impressive score last weekend of 157.

Regardless of whether the Hawks play good or bad, win or lose, Mitchell always seems to play well and get a lot of the pill.

If anything he might be in for an easier time of it this week in the comforts of Etihad Stadium against the lowly Blues.

Could we see a 60 possession game?

Very possible and you would be a brave person to put the C anywhere else this week.

C Oliver (Melbourne)

I love how Oliver goes about it.

Tough as nails, wins plenty of the ball and a clearance beast.

He has been on the verge of making my short list a lot of weeks this year without quite making it.

On the back of his 121 last week which moves him into 5th place on the Fantasy Scoring list for the year, I can no longer deny him.

He is in for a tough week against the Cats Midfield and could find himself going head to head with Joel Selwood but something tells me that is just how Oliver likes it.

The more of a grind, the tougher it gets, the more he thrives and he could make a great point of difference for the C this week if you are lucky enough to own him.

A Gaff (West Coast)

A 109 last week for Gaff which is only really a Par for him but back at Optus Stadium this weekend against a weaker opponent I expect a big score from him.

Playing the Dogs should allow Gaff to pick up a lot of uncontested ball and he will just get possessions at will.

150 is more probable than possible this week.

Z Merrett (Essendon)

Merrett long overdue to be back on this list and has hit a nice form patch of late.

Had a 138 last weekend and against Fremantle at Etihad Stadium he could be in for another nice afternoon.

There is one drawback and that is the expected tag of Bailey Banfield so be a little wary.

Banfield got a hold of Merrett last time they played in Round 2 but you can go ahead and completely ignore that fact.

Banfield was up against a low on confidence Merrett who was struggling with the after effects of concussion that day.

Merrett is a different beast now and he will want revenge.

Good luck with whoever you choose for the vital Captain role this weekend.

Thanks for reading :)
