Because I'm A Black

in #africa6 years ago

"Black is beautiful" they say; but why have we been termed "dark continent"? - Is black synonymous with darkness? Because of an error of colonialism, which has misinterpreted and bestowed on us the description that negates our true reflection; the name "dark Africa" surfaced from the shadows.

"Afri" arose from the ancient North African Tribe, and suffixed with "ica" to form a combo of peace, unity and greatness; of which the scavengers sighted and came with colonialism in form of civility and civilization, forgetting that we're home to civilization and birthplace of humankind. But all these; for the love of our resources; they did hunt and hurt us - we were left "blacker" with cruel mishandling, until the heroes arose with strength and resilience to ward off the angry devourers.

With exploration, expedition and exploitation; they did greet us.Their savagery emerged from a heart of meanness, and the hardness that came with it almost cracked the ground of Africa under pressure. But the resilience bestowed on us by Mother Nature arose and spoke in loud tone - "Give us our freedom!!". This became our song, and the song became a liberation force, and this force heralded a revolution that brought a renaissance in the land of Africa.

We fought for what was ours by inheritance, shielded their brutality with ruggedity, and braced our faith with the truth that we are survivors. And these kept our foreheads stronger than theirs, and we were freed from the "fate that be not". Our victory was evident for all to attest to, and the rays of hope has finally shone on the part of this great continent of Africa, and joy has finally arisen in our hearts.

I am Sammy, I am a black, I am an African.

God bless Africa.

Joining voices with Lucky Dube of blessed memory to chant the freedom song - "Freedom fighter".

this is Africa. The once great Continent. I think about our condition at times and its pathetic it drives me to tears. I wish we could make Africa great again..

The onus is on all of us to make this continent great again. We should do our own part, and together, we can achieve that
