They discovered the first anti-aging gene
For the first time in the history of science, scientists have discovered a genetic mutation that appears to provide protection against the biological effects of aging . For the time being, the only community in the world that owns it is an old Amish community in Indiana.
Dr. Douglas Vaughn, of the Northwestern University, has examined 177 data from the Amish community in Bern, Indiana, and found that 43 of them are carriers of the mutated gene. Compared to the total group of all amyps specifically for the investigated community, these 43 individuals had a 10% longer life and 10% longer telomeres (DNA protective structures at the end of our chromosomes, which spiral when the cells reach the end of their lives ). The same amylas have also demonstrated resistance to diabetes, except for lower blood pressure and more flexible blood vessels.
