The Baskervilles - Death of a Pop Song

in #alternativerock6 years ago (edited)

From the county town of Ipswich, Suffolk comes the four-piece indie band, The Baskervilles and they bring it right with their single, Death of a Pop Song.

The tune opens in all its “fist-to-face” glory with a driving rhythm section and front row vocal performance, laced with cool falsetto touches that add just the right loftiness to the track. Lying underneath the song are some refreshing “Nintendo” guitar tones that add interesting new layers to Death of a Pop Song. A memorable chorus melody and some anachronistic octave background vocals make this tune playlist worthy and a difficult one to part with.

The chaotic nature of Death of a Pop song is the real story here though, it’s the sort of controlled chaos that can put you on sensory overload and spin you back around for multiple listens. The track also has this meandering quality to it both in tempo and arrangement that makes it artsy and sets it apart from the usual pop riff-raff; appropriately named.
