ASSUMPTION: THE BASIS FOR NAIVETY.

The naive person assumes a lot. The naive person assumes everyone is using the right scale and weight, the naive person assumes everyone is telling the truth. The naive person doesn't see a need to think and cross examine whatever he is told. He doesn't observe, he or she can't see the trap set before him. He walks into his place of slaughter smiling, not aware of danger at all.

The naive person can't perceive jealousy, hatred that is directed towards him subtly. He carelessly releases information from his mouth into the hands of his enemies. The naive makes those that are jealous of him his confidant. The naive is simple at heart and ignorant in mind, he sometimes boasts "I am a simple person and don't like trouble". Little does he know that life is a battle?

This reminds me of a certain military ruler of a certain country in Africa, he came into government threatening coup de tat he did not plot. He was the superior officer, so the lower ranked officer handed over government to him on a platter of gold. He became the leader of the country yet he kept surrounding himself heavily with people from the very tribe the government was toppled. He made them his close confidant and distant himself from the officers that plotted the coup who happened to be his own kinsmen.

As his kinsmen observed events, they could smell a rat. They warned severally but he would not listen. One day he was assassinated by his supposed confidant. All along, he revealed his heart carelessly to his enemies, he armed them with the necessary information required to finish him and they did.

Please, I am not trying to support military rule neither am I trying to be tribalistic but I am trying to bring out the wisdom embedded in this event.

Ability to verify, test, proof and observe is the true mark of wisdom. A simple man assumes, a wise man proofs. Don't just put your money into a business a friend told you without proofing the business.

Don't assume that the business is from your friend doesn't it real. Your friend may be planning to betray you. Don't involve yourself in big business with your friends and family members without legal papers to fall back on in case of betrayal.

The simple man is never aware of betrayal, he assumes no one will want to betray him since he is a good man. The simple man assumes his goodness will save him from those with twisted words but comes to realize the truth after the spare of betrayal has gone through his heart.

Don't be too simple and become naive in nature rather be wise as Daniel who was known to be wise by King Nebuchadenezzar the assume King of king of the old days of the Bible.

Be wise as Solomon who test all spirit before judging. And finally be wise like Jesus who instead of stoning the adulter to death, He said a wise word that surrender all of them that want to kill her.
