The original site of the history museum of Mexico was the estate of the influential General Francisco Villa and his widow who lived in the estate after his death for a long time. However, after the death of the widow of the General, all the artifacts of the house including the extensive collection of Villa keepsakes, possessions, documents and archives of the notable events of the revolutionary leaders were under the authorization and control of the Mexican government. Thus, till 1981, Mrs. Villa who was the sole owner of the estate had possession of all the family heirlooms.
The structural design of the villa was reflective of the saddles of the Centaur of North. In the interior of the museum, the artifacts that are restored include the pistols and weapons that were the significant aspect of the Mexican era. Laos, the bedroom styling, living headquarters and the photographic collections of the museum breath life to the history of Mexico.
One of the alluring and captivating aspects of the museum that is housed in the center of the courtyard is the bullet-ridden American brand of Dodge. This automobile has a poignant and intense historical background because it breathes life into the time of 1923 when the General Villa and his fellow bodyguards were brutally assassinated in the southern part of Chihuahua, the city of Hidalgo del Parral. In order to pay homage and commemorate the Death of General Villa, the city administration at that time decided to bury him in the Monument to the Revolution in the Mexico City that is the national landmark that serves to pay tribute to the events that led to Mexican revolution.
It is advisable that the visitors opt for guided tours because the guides relate every historical event in such a manner that the trip to the museum becomes the walk down the memory lane. All the details of Villa’s life are articulated in an interesting and informative manner that the visitors never grow tired of listening to them. In this respect, no other museum or historical place gives you such a comprehensive look into Mexican history through the life of an influential general.
