The Pedro Manuel-Gismondi Museum of Art (or MARP) is an art museum located in the city of Ribeirão Preto, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Inaugurated in 1992, with the purpose of gathering the artistic heritage belonging to the city hall, the museum is a municipal public institution, subordinated to the Municipal Secretary of Culture. Since its founding, the museum has been installed in the old building of the Recreational Society, inaugurated in 1908, which has also served as the headquarters of the City Council of Ribeirão Preto.

In a little more than two decades of existence, the museum has hosted important exhibitions and developed national contests and projects, especially the Ribeirão Preto Art Exhibition (SARP). It is equipped with a specialized library and maintains educational and cultural activities. The museum also hosts a second exhibition space, which is located in the Convention Center of Ribeirão Preto and develops its activities in collaboration with other cultural institutions of the city.

Since its inauguration, the Ribeirao Preto Art Museum is located in the former headquarters of the Recreational Society, built at the beginning of the 20th century. The building, in an eclectic style, was designed by the Italian-Brazilian architect Affonso Geribello and its execution was in charge of Vicente Lo Giudice. It was inaugurated on December 31, 1908. In 1924, the building was expanded, after acquiring adjoining land. New adaptations were made in 1935.

In 1945, the Deliberative Council of the Recreational Society approved the construction of a new headquarters to replace the building of 1908, which, according to the same resolution, should be demolished. The plan, however, did not materialize. In 1951, the Recreational Society launched again a competition to choose the new headquarters, to be erected in the field of its field headquarters, this time in a successful way. After the change of the Recreation Society, its headquarters was occupied by the City Hall of Ribeirão Preto, in 1956. The City Hall worked in the building until 1984, when it was transferred to the current headquarters (upper floor of the House of Culture). After a major renovation, the building was housed in the museum in 1992.

In 2008, the building was registered by the Council of Preservation of the Cultural Heritage of Ribeirão Preto (Conppac), in response to the initiative of the tipping process initiated by the Association of Friends of the MARP in 2006.

This cultural institution houses contemporary art exhibitions of established artists but also gives space for new talents. The collections include canvases, sculptures, installations, books, prints, collages and more. The museum promotes workshops on various subjects, which offer an immersion in the art world through paintings, choreography and oratory practices. Admission is free.
