Old San Juan is a must place to visit in Puerto Rico. What makes it one of the most enchanted and magical places in the Caribbean is that this place upholds the 500 years of history of the place and colonial architecture in the form of brick walls and tropical paints with grandeur. Although this place is a departure from other scenic places that have wonderful beaches, green parks or the spectacular view of natural beauty in peace with human existence, it is still one of the most visited places in Puerto Rico by tourists and locals. They enjoy spending many hours just walking and speculating around the walled city.

So let us now see why Old San Juan is one of the popular visiting spots in the city:

The grand fortresses:
The grand and massive fortresses say a lot of Puerto Rico’s natural history. In fact, nothing preserves the 500 years of history much strongly and assertively as these fortresses do. The tourists visit specifically the El Morro and Castillo De San Cristobal and visualize their mortars, field guns, battlements, fortifications and layered defenses with awe and realize that the secret of country’s defenses strategies is evident in these fortresses. They would also visit the governor’s grand mansion and estate on the island, La Fortaleza that marks one of the earliest defensive structure in the Island.

Delicious cuisines offered at the Fortaleza Cuisine:
Tourists who want to taste the traditional Puerto Rico flavors, international cuisine and a fusion of global and Caribbean flavors can head straight for the Fortaleza or SoFo Street and have their taste buds tantalized. In fact, Fortaleza Street is recognized as the row of restaurants where the tourists and the local visitors can find a variety of cuisines and best dining places in the town. However, it doesn’t mean that there aren’t any other delicious and worth visiting dining out places in the Old City. But concerning the variety in and quality of food, Old San Juan’s Fortaleza Street has no match.

Sunset is majestic at Paseo la Princea:
The place is a wide boardwalk that extends from the docks of the foot of the city and heads straight to the beautiful Raices Fountains. If you choose to visit the place on weekends, then you will find lines of stalls along the broad promenade and even a cultural performance. But the best time to visit the place is at the time of the sunset when you get to see majestic scenery of the natural harbor from the fountains, and you have a respite from the heated day.
